Cariera lui de actor s-a cristalizat în scurt-metraje, înainte de a apărea în serialul de televiziune Homeland. Timothée și-a făcut debutul în film în drama lui Jason Reitman, Bărbați, Femei și Copii și a apărut în filmul Interstellar, regizat de Christopher Nolan.
